Spin-Casting = Spray-in-Place Pipe (SIPP)
The Spin-Casting application for geopolymer and cement mortar liners provides a versatile solution for repairing a variety of pipes and surfaces, such as concrete, corrugated metal, steel, and brick. It can accommodate pipe diameters from 50 cm to 300 cm.
This approach is particularly effective for extending the lifespan of older infrastructure while reducing the need for significant excavation by utilizing existing manholes for access.
Each project presents unique challenges, and a licensed professional must design the pipe relining system to meet stringent structural restoration standards.

Spin-Casting Procedure
Spin-casting employs a unique spin-head specifically designed to match the diameter of various pipes. It utilizes centrifugal force to apply a geopolymer or fiber-reinforced cement mortar evenly at high pressure onto the inner surfaces of the pipes. The spin-caster is retracted to the access point at a controlled speed, ensuring the liner achieves the intended thickness, as designed.
This process results in a robust, waterproof structural lining that is resistant to corrosion and abrasion and enhances flow capacity and efficiency. The liner restores the pipe’s structural integrity and acts as a protective barrier against microbiological-induced corrosion (MIC).
A key advantage of spin-casting also referred to as the Centrifugally Cast Concrete Pipe (CCCP) system, is its capability to line not only round pipes but also irregular shapes, such as ovoid, arched, box culverts and other non-uniform surfaces
Spin-CastING – Key Benefits
01
FAST AND COST EFFECTIVE
Spin-casting delivers cement or geopolymer mortar via a nozzle positioned at the center of the pipe. As the nozzle rotates and moves consistently, it distributes a uniform layer of liner rapidly and effectively. Maintenance costs are lowered significantly.
02
Restores Structural Integrity
By incorporating an extra layer of geopolymer or cement mortar, the pipe’s structural performance is significantly improved, increasing its resistance to external pressures and the stresses associated with internal flow.
03
SPIN CAST Extends Infrastructure Life
Re-lining pipes enhances their capacity and flow efficiency, improves their structural strength, and protects them from acid corrosion. Utilizing liners, particularly geopolymer mortars, can extend the lifespan of pipes by many decades.
04
Non-Invasive – uses Existing Manholes
Spin-casting is a trenchless technique that utilizes existing manholes for access, eliminating large excavation. It hardly impacts traffic or neighborhoods, making it especially helpful in urban settings where digging can cause major disruptions.
05
SPIN CAST Reduces Bypass and System Downtime.
Spin-casting significantly reduces the need for bypass pumping, which speeds the installation process. The equipment used in spin-casting can maneuver through bends and irregularities in the piping, which minimizes the likelihood of further repairs.
06
Waterproofs Pipe + Stops MIC Corrosion
Concrete pipe relining forms a resilient and watertight shield that defends against the damage inflicted by water leaks and acids produced by microbial-induced corrosion (MIC). The liner also protects against abrasion caused by debris flowing within the pipe.
Application Areas + Gemite Liner Materials
Gemite’s Spin-Cast Sewer Liner, and Spin-Cast CW Liner present cutting-edge trenchless structural repair solutions to permanently renew existing water pipes, sewers, and infrastructure. The choice of suitable liner material depends on the project’s unique characteristics and design parameters.

SPIN CAST FOR Sewer Pipes
We aim to integrate advanced geopolymer mortars into R&D, to tackle issues with aging sewer and water pipelines. These spin-cast materials will offer protective linings for various pipe configurations, strengthening essential infrastructure maintenance.

Stormwater Pipes & Drains
Spin-Cast CW Liner is a cementitious fibre-reinforced structural liner, designed for spin-cast or shotcrete applications. It is enhanced with a Crystalline Admixture enabling it to autonomously seal cracks over time, effectively halting water infiltration and exfiltration.

Galvanised Steel Culverts
Re-lining, instead of replacing the culvert, offers significant cost savings, providing it restores its load-bearing capacity. The structural Geo-Cast Pipe Liner, which forms a strong bond with the existing steel and develops a monolithic inorganic polymer structure is the answer.

SPIN CAST FOR Concrete Box Culverts
Spin-Cast Sewer Liner is an advanced cementitious, fibre-reinforced mortar, specially designed to restore damaged vertical and overhead concrete surfaces. The application process utilizes either spin-casting or, for thicker layers, the wet shotcrete method.
